New Partnership to Boost the Protection of Pollinators and Empowering Beekeepers with Apivita

The Greek-origin natural beauty care brand Apivita has initiated a partnership with BeeLife. The firm specialises in sustainable production based on beehive products, said to have ‘been born of Bees and raised by Science’. As part of its Billion Bees Programme, which seeks to regenerate honeybee populations and raise awareness of the importance of bees and pollinators, Apivita has joined the ranks of firms supporting BeeLife as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The partnership is a natural step in the collaboration between sustainable production, beekeeping, and environmental advocacy. Both organisations unite to highlight the priority of halting and reversing the decline of pollinator populations and safeguarding their vital role in ensuring a safe and biodiverse environment.

This new partnership, which will boost BeeLife's activities, was made possible thanks to the matchmaking services for corporate social responsibility provided by the 1% for the Planet platform. Thanks to its engagement, 'APIVITA commits to give back 1% of global sales of its iconic product ranges to partnered non-profit organisations helping bee population regeneration and awareness at an international level.' This partnership, in particular, will help BeeLife empower beekeepers to more efficiently engage in political advocacy to defend their livelihood and improve environmental conditions so pollinators can thrive.

Additionally, the partnership will help BeeLife grow the EU Pollinator Hub, a new online platform to centralise, process, and make data related to pollinator health publicly available. The platform is a milestone in promoting shared knowledge to protect pollinators, allowing users, from researchers and public institutions to citizens, to share their data. In particular, this new partnership will help grow ongoing efforts in data hunting and expanding data sharing agreements with beekeeping associations across Europe. The main goal is to reach and engage with beekeepers so they can share their data through the EU Pollinator Hub and use other available data to improve their decision-making and support their advocacy activities with national and European institutions.

In particular, Apivita's support will help BeeLife:

  • Provide training across its network of beekeeping associations to initiate or improve advocacy activities at national and European levels.

  • Expand efforts to promote the EU Pollinator Hub across the beekeeping community across Europe.

  • Boost data hunting efforts to grow the pool of data providers and users of the EU Pollinator Hub, creating a win-win situation where people share data relevant to pollinator health and can use available data for beekeeping management and environmental advocacy.

In conclusion, the partnership between Apivita and BeeLife marks an important milestone in protecting bee populations and empowering beekeepers. By providing support for advocacy activities, promoting the EU Pollinator Hub, and facilitating data sharing, this collaboration is set to significantly impact the preservation of pollinators and the environment. Through their joint efforts, Apivita and BeeLife demonstrate a commendable commitment to corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship, setting an example for future collaborations between private and non-profit actors.
