Vote for Bees and Agriculture: Public Eye Awards 2014!
Tuesday 26 November 2013
Syngenta, BASF and Bayer are multinational companies that produce and sell highly toxic pesticides (systemic pesticides). Their pesticides are mass-killing bees and other pollinators. Some of these pesticides have been banned in Europe since 2013. However, the companies have largely denied that their pesticide business has negative impacts on bees and ecosystems. Today, citizens have got a great opportunity to make Syngenta, Bayer and BASF win the dreaded “Worst Prize” of the Public Eye Award.
Say you want Bees not Pesticides:
The Public Eye Award is the most renowned anti-price in the area of corporate accountability. Since 2000, The Public Eye Awards mark a critical counterpoint to the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. All the cases of environmental offenses and human rights violations nominated by the independent jury are documented on the Public Eye Award website.
Syngenta, Bayer and BASF have been nominated by Bee Life European Beekeeping Coordination with the support of more than 50 organizations forming the ‘Alliance to Save the Bees and the Agriculture’. Other nominated companies are Eskom, FIFA, Gap, Gazprom, Glencore Xstrata, and HSBC Marine Harvest.
